The answer is ‘no’, its not a negative, because it is doesn’t align with me or my values at this point of my career; having a better understanding of myself. I understand what I need to do digitally thanks to Jamie Hickey and his planning prowess and I will chip away at it, in my own time.
My coaching clients this year have had great results – in quite short periods of time. I now get referrals and WOM. This is gold. Not the quantity of clients, but the quality.
I believe that reputation driven growth is something I can really stand over, aggressive selling is not sitting with my ‘frequency’ as a Projector thanks to Kylie-Anne Nel’ work on my Human Design Chart. Projectors conserve energy for exactly when it is needed, rather than a constant churn of 9-5pm activity. Another aspect of Projectors is to ‘wait for the invitation’, this was a real insight for me.
Coaches with strong reputations acquire the majority of their clients through word of mouth and referrals, which come with pre-existing trust, lowering the sales effort needed compared to cold, “shouty” marketing.
Reputation-based coaches focus on high-quality client experiences, leading to better repeat business and client trust, whereas overly bombarding marketing can often feel inauthentic, and can damage a personal brand’s long-term credibility.
Effective coaching focuses on providing structured accountability, which builds client success stories, that act as its own marketing. Success to me is a good result with a client, failure is not a lost sale.
While building a reputation is honestly, much slower, client referrals will hopefully help me to create a much more stable business than one that relies entirely on high-volume marketing. It will take time, and I am ok with that.
Each to their own – we all work in different ways, with different goals (including financial), and that is what makes life interesting!
